At Christopher Orthodontics, we believe that every child deserves the chance to smile! Our Wally’s Kids Program provides orthodontic scholarships to children in our community who would benefit from treatment but face financial barriers.
How the Program Works
Each quarter, one child is selected to receive orthodontic care through this scholarship program. Our goal is simple: remove financial barriers and create life-changing smiles for deserving kids.
A beautiful smile improves confidence, oral health, and overall quality of life, so we’re honored to give back to the communities we serve.
Applications are reviewed by a local selection committee. One child is selected based on:
- Financial need
- Orthodontic need
- A complete application
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be between the ages of seven and 16
- Live within our local communities
- Be current on regular dental visits
- Maintain good oral hygiene
- Not currently be in braces
- Submit a recent 5x7 smiling photo
We encourage families from all backgrounds to apply.
Patient & Parent Agreement
To help every patient succeed during treatment, we ask all families selected for the Wally’s Kids Program to agree to the following expectations.
Appointments & Scheduling
- Schedule appointments in advance
- Arrive on time for all appointments
- Provide at least 48 hours’ notice if an appointment needs to be rescheduled
- Attend all scheduled visits whenever possible
If a patient arrives less than ten minutes late, our team will do everything possible within the remaining appointment time. If a patient arrives more than 10 minutes late, the appointment may need to be rescheduled.
Because orthodontic visits are typically scheduled six to ten weeks apart, missed appointments can delay treatment progress.
Afternoon appointments are extremely popular and may be shared throughout treatment. Some visits may need to take place during morning hours. Families who require afternoon-only scheduling may request an optional VIP scheduling upgrade.
Elastic Wear & Oral Hygiene
Successful orthodontic treatment requires teamwork between the patient, parent, and orthodontic team.
Patients agree to:
- Wear elastics exactly as prescribed
- Brush and floss consistently
- Continue routine dental checkups throughout treatment
Poor oral hygiene can lead to permanent white marks on teeth and other dental issues. If home care does not improve, the doctors may discuss alternative treatment options, including possible early removal of braces.
Doctor & Office Communication
Christopher Orthodontics operates as a collaborative doctor team. Patients may see different providers throughout treatment, allowing for more scheduling flexibility and consistent care.
Families are encouraged to use the office text line as the primary form of communication whenever possible.
If an orthodontic emergency occurs after hours, an on-call clinician is available to help guide next steps.
Broken Brackets & Comfort Visits
Orthodontic appliances occasionally loosen or break during treatment.
If discomfort occurs, families should contact the office right away. Comfort visits are available to help relieve irritation and determine whether repairs are needed before the next scheduled appointment.
In many cases, minor bracket issues can safely wait until the next regular visit without affecting treatment progress.
Office Environment
We pride ourselves on creating a fun, high-energy environment for patients and families. This may include:
- Music played at a lively volume
- Braces-off celebrations
- Patient parties
- Slushy machines and office activities
If any part of the office environment becomes uncomfortable, we encourage families to let our team know.
Retainers & Long-Term Care
One set of retainers is included with the Wally’s Kids scholarship award. Replacement retainers are not included and may require an additional fee.
Retainers are an important part of protecting your child’s new smile after treatment is complete.
Media Release
As part of the Wally’s Kids Program, selected families agree that Christopher Orthodontics may use photos, videos, or audio recordings of the patient for social media, website content, and community promotion related to the scholarship program.
